Dirty Nails, Dirty Wheels

So, with the exception of age zero to age two, when I lived in San Antonio (population 1,323,000 in 1988, when I was born), Portland is the largest city I’ve ever lived in, tipping the scales at 583,776 people as of 2010 (2,260,000 in the metro area).  You know what happens in cities this big?

Fucking concerts, that’s what!

A week or two ago, I saw KRS-One play.  What.  While I was spendin’ a week and a half or so icky sick not long after getting here, I missed (missed!) Blackalicious, The Gourds, and Big Freedia.  This summer, months before I was here, there was a show featuring the Pharcyde, Digable Planets and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.  And the Pharcyde and DP were with live bands!  In February, Trivium are playing.  Like I said in a previous post, I’m gonna see tUnE-yArDs on Monday.  And you know what happens in December?

WHERE I LIVE.

This is madness.  I’m gonna have to have to bring a friend who doesn’t like ska, so someone can take me home, ‘cause I may just dance too hard to get back under my own steam.

I live here.  Not only do I live here, I make music here.  That feels right.

I guess I’ll stick around awhile.
